The Säntis is a popular excursion destination all year round amidst the mythical mountain landscape of the Alpstein. In summer, it delights visitors with its clear views and alpine flora. Numerous hiking trails invite you to explore the picturesque landscape in pleasant temperatures. In winter, the Säntis is transformed into a snow-covered wonderland with a magical atmosphere. Schwägalp serves as a starting point and is also home to the three-star superior hotel ‘Säntis - das Hotel’. A visit is rounded off with regional gastronomy and an interactive adventure world on the Säntis summit at an altitude of 2502 metres.
Unique nature, warm hospitality and a touch of mysticism come together on the Säntis and Schwägalp. Instead of simply slowing down, our guests experience true inspiration: the clear mountain air, expansive views and the unspoilt nature of the Alpstein create an atmosphere that organises thoughts and opens up new perspectives.
Here, not only the soul is touched, but the body is also activated - be it during eventful hikes, exciting discoveries in the world of weather and adventure or socialising in a rustic ambience. The combination of tradition and innovation characterises our entire offer: high-quality regional gastronomy, a comfortable three-star superior hotel and an excellently organised infrastructure for seminars and events.
What makes the Säntis special is the unrivalled interplay of nature, culture and modern hospitality. Here, every moment is an experience - whether it's a romantic break, an active holiday or an inspiring meeting. Welcome to a place that writes stories. Welcome to the Säntis.
Travelling through the idyllic Appenzellerland or the picturesque Toggenburg prepares you for the impressive mountain world of the Säntis. Schwägalp, the starting point of the Säntis suspension railway, is easily and safely accessible all year round. The ten-minute ride on the cable car to the summit is an experience in itself and opens up a panorama that stretches from the Alps to Lake Constance and six countries.
Even in changeable weather, there is plenty to discover on the Säntis: The interactive adventure world offers exciting insights into the topics of weather, ice, geology and the history of the suspension railway. Culinary highlights await both on the summit and at the valley station: from traditional Appenzell and Toggenburg specialities to generous breakfast buffets. The rustic Gasthaus Passhöhe along the pass road invites you to take a cosy break with a coffee or a hearty fondue - perfect for any time of day.
