Winery am Steinig Tisch

Weingut am Steinig Tisch is a third-generation family business with self-fermentation. Founded in 1970 by August Rutishauser, Christoph Rutishauser took it to a professional level in 1981 and Roman Rutishauser has been developing it further since 2015.

A sandy stone's throw from Altenrhein Airport: in the excellent locations of Buchberg, with its mild climate, expressive grapes thrive on extremely steep slopes on poor, clayey soil. On 7 hectares of vineyards, we cultivate 8 different grape varieties sustainably and by hand, in harmony with nature, through the targeted promotion of biodiversity.

From these, we carefully vinify 14 different, first-class wines of the highest quality in the wine cellar with passion and vigour. These include classics such as Riesling-Sylvaner and Violin, as well as internationally recognised varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Our exclusive Kerner, which we were the first to cultivate in Switzerland in 1973, is widely known and appreciated.

The quality of the wines is determined by the care of the vine. In harmony with the vineyard habitat, we shape and perfect sun-ripened top quality in the wine cellar. Reflection of the individual vine year, charisma and ideology of the winemaker make our wines unique.

We live our passion for wine with joy and enthusiasm. Consistency and authenticity are key elements of our wine philosophy.

Our wines have been honoured several times at national and international wine awards. After being honoured by Gault&Millau as ‘Rookie of the Year’ in 2019, we were also listed among the 150 best Swiss winegrowers by Gault&Millau in 2021 to 2025. The wine magazine VINUM now recognises us as one of the 200 best wineries in Switzerland!
