Numerous bird species such as parakeets, macaws, amazons, peacocks, parrots and pheasants can be observed here.
The bird paradise "Birka" is located at an idyllic spot between the Moors and Schaanwald on Josef-Murr-Weg. The path is named after the biologist Josef Murr who studied the Maurer Riet.
The Ornithological Association took over management from municipality of Mauren, built a Bird Paradise and cares for this nature reserve to this day.
The Birka Bird Paradise is a popular destination featuring a children's playground, biotope and clubhouse. You can observe numerous bird species including parakeets, macaws, amazons, peacocks, parrots and pheasants, with over 140 bird species in eleven large bird cages. Explore the nature reserve on foot or combine the visit with a bike ride in Liechtenstein.
You learn more on a guided tour about the plant and animals. In addition to exotic birds, the Maurer Riet area also has a diverse variety of native flora and fauna in the adjacent nature reserve.
The nature reserve area is accessible at any time.
The entrance to the bird paradise "Birka" is free of charge
