Businessman Fritz Mühlenweg (1898– 1961) joined Sven Hedin’s last expedition to eastern Asia in 1927 as accounting officer, and travelled through Mongolia three times before 1932. He wove his encounters and impressions into paintings, stories and his award-winning novel “In geheimer Mission durch die Wüste Gobi,” (“Big Tiger and Christian”) translated into eight languages. The museum brings this fascinating biography to life with photos, pictures, exhibits, the expedition film, listening posts and surprising items on loan. The museum is on the literary “Per Pedal zur Poesie” cycle path.
