Imagine sharks and sea urchins in the Allgäu! Indeed, the 200-meter rock walls hide relics of an ancient time when this area was covered by a sea. If you’d like to hike the gorge and surrounding mountains, there are three ways: Leisurely, but steadily uphill, you follow the course of the river from the info pavilion Eistobel to the starting point Schüttentobel (3.5 km, approx. 1.5 hours walking time). Somewhat more demanding is the round trip over the Staufenberg (5.3 km, 2 hrs walking time). For those with good endurance, you can do the Tobeltour with the Riedholzer Kugel (1,056 m) 3,464 ft.
